After a week off for Thanksgiving break, I am back in classes! My break was incredibly quiet and restful, and I hope yours was too! We did not do much, which was a nice change of pace. We have never really had any Thanksgiving traditions, aside from eating the traditional Thanksgiving food! While we were invited to go over to our extended families house for a meal, we decided to stay put and enjoy being home with just the three of us (my mom, sister, and I).
Since it was only three of us, we did not do a huge meal. We did have turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and green beans though. Our favorites! We also sat at our dining room table for the first time in months! We usually just sit at a little round table in our kitchen for meals. However since it was a special occasion, we decided to to sit at our actual dining room table!
Top Five Favorite Things from Thanksgiving Break
- Beach Walks – With the chaos of school and classes, I don’t get to the beach as nearly as often as I would like to! So with the slower week, I took every advantage to get to the beach for a nice walk! It was glorious and so pretty!
- Spending time with family – Since both my sister and I off at college, we don’t see each other as often. It was nice for all three of us to be at home at the same time for a change!
- Reading – While I have incorporated reading into my morning routine, it was nice to be able to spend more time reading throughout the day.
- Watercolor – I pulled at Emily Lex’s online simplified watercoloring class! I bought this back in 2019 and have loved going back to it! There are some really sweet projects in this class and some very helpful tips!
- Working on my blog – I have loved working on my blog this week! With school and classes, it often gets put on the back burner. I really dedicated some time to taking pictures, writing posts, and planning future posts! I have some fun ideas planned!
Overall it was a really nice, quiet, and relaxing week off! My favorite part was being able to slow down the pace of everyday life and really turn my brain off. I loved having very few commitments!
Endnote
I am so grateful to have had a week off in the first place, I know a lot of people didn’t have that, my sister included. I feel like it really allowed me to have a break from the craziness of everyday life. And now, I feel ready to go full speed ahead into the end of the semester! I can’t believe finals are only a few short weeks away!! This semester has honestly flown by!
During break I was really able to think about all that I am thankful for. I think we often times forget to show gratitude in the chaos of every day life. If you missed it, I wrote a blog post all about what I am grateful for this holiday season!
Wherever you are, I hope you had a wonderful and restful holiday, whether you were by yourself or surrounded by family and friends! What was your favorite part of your Thanksgiving? Let me know in the comments! See you next week, friend!
